I love color! I always have but little did I know the colors I was choosing didn’t always love me back. The other weekend I had my colors done. I know I know, it sounded a bit old fashioned to me too. But I can’t tell you how helpful and insightful this was! Colors aren’t just about whether pink looks good on you or not. It’s what shade of pink looks good. Turns out I was choosing the wrong shades.
We first tried SUMMER tones, they are muted with blue undertones, think pastels. I’ve never liked pastels and no wonder! They looked awful on me so I immediately took it off. Then we went and tried the FALL color wheel, also muted but with yellow undertones. Although I love some of the Fall colors they just do nothing for me.
Then we moved on to WINTER tones, clear bold colors with blue undertones. These are the colors I usually wear. I love that garnet red and raspberry pink! Although they don’t look awful it wasn’t until we tried something I hadn’t considered that really sold me.
Upon putting on the SPRING color wheel, clear bold colors with a yellow undertone, we all agreed that these colors just made my face pop! It’s strange how much color can change your hair, skin and even eye color.
So I am a SPRING! Looking at my closet I think I need to invest in some more of those pop colors. Most of my closet is filled with WINTER colors and I realized so is my house! I get so stuck on certain colors in my decorating too. For example I normally would have chosen this beautiful linen set of reds and browns for my bedroom.
Now that I feel safe branching out I am somewhat drawn to this very bright green set! How beautiful is this!? It reminds me of Hawaii and I just want to wrap myself in those gorgeous sheets.
Looks like my closet is not the only thing that needs an update. 😉
Do you know what color tones look best on you?
