A Week Late but Worth the Wait – Introducing Munchkin

It’s official we are a family of FIVE! I can’t believe it even as I write it. I have THREE boys, Yikes! It looks like I will remain the queen of this castle and I’m just fine with that. 😉

Munchkin came into this world a week past his due date but his labor was exactly what I had thought it would be, FAST and FURIOUS! Contractions woke me up about 3am and after 45 minutes of them I knew this was the real deal (I had a lot of false labor in the weeks leading up so I wanted to be sure.) We arrived at the hospital at 5am and by 7am I pushed twice and he was out. All in all a four hour labor from start to finish.

Now don’t get me wrong it was by no means as smooth sailing as it sounds. Frankly it was pretty chaotic and painful. I know people think, “Four hours, that’s great!”, but I say give me a bit more time for my mind to catch up with where my body is going. After the baby came out my brain was still in transition and it took awhile for me to downshift and sort out what had just happened. After all is said and done I am glad it is over and I can start getting to know this little person whom I’ve been waiting to meet for nine months.

One of the things I was curious about was how the two older boys would react to another little brother. My fears quickly dissolved when they came to visit in the hospital. Little Man couldn’t wait to hold his newest little brother and Punkin was obsessed with hugging the baby. Both of them got very concerned during the diaper change when Munchkin started crying and Punkin even asked, “Hurts?” in his cute two year old language. If anything I know I will have to keep a close eye on Munchkin getting TOO much love from his big brothers.

They were enthralled with how small Munchkin was.

Little Man couldn't wait to hold him but quickly got nervous with how wiggly babies are and handed him back.

I think Punkin asked to hug him about five times. Looks like he's already in love.

Thank you all for all the love, support and prayers we’ve received throughout this pregnancy and birth. John and I feel so blessed to have such an amazing community of friends and family we know we can count on.
